THE WOODLANDS, Texas (May 7, 2015) — Derek Meinhart of Mattoon, Ill. captured the 10th annual Carlton Woods Invitational on Thursday, finishing with a one-over par total of 217 at The Club at Carlton Woods. His victory was by three shots over Addison, Texas resident Aaron Hickman.
Meinhart broke Kyle Nathan’s 18-hole tournament course record in round two, shooting 67 to jump out to a four-shot lead entering the final round. He carded 75 on Thursday, the same score he opened with on Tuesday.
Hickman was under-par on Wednesday, shooting 71 to get into second place before shooting a final-round 74. He grabbed the runner-up position by a stroke over Ed Sanchez of San Antonio.
SENIORS
In the Senior Division, second-round leader Lee Sandlin edged a surging Wayne Wright to hold on for a one-stroke win. Sandlin went four-under with a 68 in round two and finished with 74, while Wright shot 69 in his attempt to come from behind.
Wright birdied two of his last four holes, including the par-five 18th while Sandlin made bogeys on three of his last five, including the final two.
Recent Society of Seniors Masters winner Doug Pool of Las Vegas tied for second place with Wright at two-over 218, shooting 75-71-72.
